Recommend some films which have left a deep impression in students’ mind to introduce the targeted film: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

B. Skimming: read for the structure
1. How can we divide the passage into 4 parts?
2. What is the main idea of each part?
(These guiding questions are aimed to help students understand the main structure and main idea of the film review.)
C. Scanning: read for detailed information A
1. How is Harry’s life with the Dursleys?
2. What are the film’s main attractions?
3. What problems does the film have?
Read for detailed information B:
1. What kind of boy Harry is?
2. How did Harry feel about his new life?
(The questions above is intended to help students search for related information quickly and learn the possible writing contents in composing their own film review.)
D. Reflective thinking
1. Which key information should be included in a film review?
2. What else should we pay attention to when writing a film review?
(The questions are to help students consolidate the technique of writing a film review.)
E. My writing of a film review
Show students another example of a film review to help them lay solid foundation in writng a similar film review.
F. Practice makes perfect
