Teaching Producers:
Step 1. Warming Up (5min)
Purpose: Ss will read the new material in Using language, and enjoy the scenery in Toronto and Montreal.
1. Ss will enjoy some pictures of Toronto and Montreal.
2. Ss will answer the following question:
What comes to your mind when looking at these pictures?
Step 2. Reading (10min)
Purpose: Ss will develop the ability of searching related information.
Ss will skim the passage quickly and underline the sentences that is related to location, which pave the way for writing.
Two or three Ss will be encouraged to share their answers. Then T will show the sentences on the ppt.
Step 3. Writing (30min)
Purpose: Ss will learn the strategies of writing.
Ss will develop their writing ability by imitating.
Generate strategies for the composition about introducing a city. The strategies can be a slogan of ”地面人气历胜”, which stands for location, area, population, weather, history and scenery respectively.
After the discussion, Ss will be given some suggested expressions on the six aspects, including useful words, phrases and sentences.
Ss will finish a model composition of introducing Shanghai. Some sentences in the composition are cut for Ss to fill in.
