Ask the students to read the text quickly, and then decide the main idea of it.
Step3 Careful reading
Divide the text into four parts: his early school life, what he has invented (his inventions), what else he did and what kind of person(his personalities). Then deal with them part by part.
Listen to the 1st para. Ask the students to describe his early school life, which is quite different from ordinary people’s .
Read paras.2-4&6, make a list of his early products and his greatest achievements in the field of personal computers.
Read para.5, know what else he did: making Mensa a well-known organization.
According to supporting details, ask the students to summary his personalities, which are his secrets of success, that is, intelligence and a firm will to succeed.
Step4 Extension
Lead the students to summarize other qualities that contribute to success, such as passion, persistence, focus and so on.
At the same time introduce some expressions, such as It is …that…, …counts. ….is the No. 1 reason for success.
Step5 Writing
Ask the students to write a passage about 80 words.
Topic: As senior 3 students, what qualities, in your opinion, can lead to your success—being admitted into your university? Why?

Top sentence ( 2-3 supporting sentences)
Linking words
Complex sentence patterns
Finally choose one or two writings to demonstrate in class.
Step6 Homework
After class finish your writing and polish it.
