T: Boys and girls, you’ll have a chance to take part a National English Speech Competition like those competitors in the picture, in order to win the first place like them, what are you going to do?

As we all know, attitude decides everything, detail decides success or failure.

Therefore, for your coming competition, we need to do as follows:

1) To know about the details of the speech competition

2) To find some tips for winning the competition

3) To ask for advice from your teachers, parents or friends if necessary

4) To follow some tips on key to success from me

[设计意图]: 热身环节通过图片及问题导入本单元关于成功的话题,让学生表达自己的选择,选择成功之道是所有人的意愿,以此引导学生思考成功的秘诀。通过口头消息告诉学生,接下来我们要参加全国英语口语比赛,借助于图片,结合成功的样例,提醒学生思考:要想取得英语口语竞赛成功,该怎么办?利用该环节顺势引入本节课的学习目标,让学生了解到本节课的学习活动。

Task1—Facts to listen for

1) Listen to the an airport announcement

Script: Hello. Passengers of flight 17 bound for Caracas, with stops in Atlanta and Miami. The departure gate has been changed to 30B. Also, there will be a slight departure delay due to inclement weather outside. The ground crew is in the process of deicing the wings in preparation for departure. It also looks like the flight is slightly overbooked, so we are offering complimentary round-trip tickets to a few passengers willing to take a later flight. We should be boarding about a quarter to the hour. Thank you for your patience.

2) Present the announcement and ask students to find out key information that need our special attention
