Analysis on the teaching materialThis lesson contains two passages talking about different lifestyles .In the first passage,the author presents us a typical life of a couch potato. It talks about his daily life, including the TV programs he watches every day. In the second passage, the life of a workaholic is just on the contrary. The comparison of the two lifestyles is the focus of this lesson. Through learning the main content, the students are supposed to get the basic information and master the basic reading ability.Analysis on the

target studentsThe target students are in grade 1. They have developed some kind of language skills in reading, writing and analyzing sentences, but most of them don’t get a profound understanding of analyzing vast amounts of information. Besides, they have difficulty in cooperating with other students to complete several tasks.

Through the previous learning, Ss have gained the meaning of words in this lesson. What’s more, they have got a general idea of the meaning of this passage through preview. However, they haven’t learned the detailed information of the texts, which is the purpose of this class.Teaching important pointsGet Ss fully understand the detailed information.

Divide the students into 6 groups. Each task later will be organized in the form of group work. And the result will be related with their scores. The group which gets the highest score will be the winner.

Step1.Review

Ask the students to review the words and expressions they learnt last class by reporting their Chinese meaning and reading them on their own.

Step2. Warm-up

Ask the students the question: what are your favorite kinds of TV programs? Then present some programs that students are familiar with on the screen.
