Teaching procedures:
Step I Revision
Read aloud the new words in lesson 1.
Brainstorm some new words related to the topic “lifestyles”.
Step II Presentation
What kind of lifestyle do you think the men in the picture have? Choose some words to describe the pictures on the screen.
boring, busy, dangerous, active, easy, lazy, exciting, free, interesting, peaceful, relaxing, stressful
Step III listening
Listen to the tape and pay attention to the intonations and stresses. Try to find out the man’s attitudes to his lifestyle.
Step IV Reading and replacing
Read the two passages fast and underline the verbs related to the activities of the couch potato and workaholic.
Replace the pronoun “I” or “my” with “he” or ”his” to retell the passages.
Step V Practice
Fill in the blanks with the phrases that occur in the two passages. Some phrase can be used more than once.
