2. Teaching objects

According to the new standard of curriculum and the syllabus, and after learning

the teaching material, the teaching objects are the following:

(1) Knowledge objects

1)Help the students to master the usage of important words and phrases such as: champion, compete against, train, look back, come to an end, make progress in, express a keen interest on etc.

2)Help the students to understand the content of the reading, talk about their favorite sports stars and express their own idea freely.

(2) Ability objects

1)Encourage the students to improve their reading skills especially skimming and

scanning.

2)Train the students’ ability of study by themselves and by cooperating.

(3) Moral objects

1)To learn Venus and Serena Williams’ struggle for success and learn from them.

2) Encourage the students to hold a right attitude towards the difficulty and obstacles in the road of achieving one’s dream.

3.Teaching important and difficult points.

The important point: How to improve the students’ reading skills through skimming and scanning.

The difficult point: Let the student have a deep understanding of the heroic spirit of sports stars and express their own opinion about it.

Part II Analysis of the students

The students are senior 1 students, although some of them have basic ability of

listening, speaking, reading and writing, most of them are weak in English and have

many kinds of problems in expressing themselves, some students are not active in the

class and some of them don’t like English. Students understand new knowledge in

certain degree through the mental process of seeing, hearing, saying, thinking,

therefore, I will have students study in a relaxed atmosphere. I will give them more

opportunities to speak in class and more encouragements.
