Learning methods:
Students will get to learn this lesson through reading strategies, skimming, scanning and group discussion. Also, they are required to put what they learn into practice.
Teaching Procedures:
Step1. Showing a video:
At the beginning of the class, get students to watch a short video , which is directed and performed by the students themselves. Elicit the topic of this period--- Christmas.
Step2. Brainstorming:
Which things do you think of when it comes to Christmas? Encourage students to list as many words as they can. Write them down on the blackboard.
Christmas tree, Christmas hat, stockings, presents, balloons, Christmas pudding, turkey, Christmas cake, candy, Christmas carols, decorations, etc.
Step3. Reading:
Activity1: Read the passage quickly and find the time in each paragraph. Remind students that the text is developed in time order.
Match the paragraphs with the headings. Then help students conclude that the whole passage can be divided into three parts according to the time order.
Part1 (paras1-2): before Christmas
Part2 (para3): on Christmas Eve
Part3 (paras4-5): on Christmas Day
