Ⅲ.Teaching process
Step1. Lead-in
Do some speaking to talk about Dickens and his works, and talk about Christmas customs.
Step 2: Pre-reading
Watch a movie preview to guess what happened to the main character.
Step 3: Fast-reading
Read the text fast and draw a mind map of the main characters.
Step 4: Intensive-reading
1、Divide the text into three scenes and complete the tables after reading. They will conduct role play after scene 1.
2、Let the students think about the character and the moral more than the plots by asking the questions.
What words can we use to describe Scrooge’s personality?
What if he were given a second chance?
Why does Scrooge change his attitude?
Step5: Post-reading
What do you think he will do over the next Christmas?
What’s the true spirit of Christmas?
According to the last scene, write a passage to describe Scrooge’s next Christmas.
If time is limited, the writing part will be left as homework.
