Procedure:
Step Ⅰ before you start
1. Let students watch a short video about virtual reality computer games to inform them of the VR technology.
2. Ask the students who like playing computer games to share their experience of it and get to know their understanding of virtual reality computer games.
Step Ⅱ read the text
1.Lead the students to talk about the applications of the VR technology they have known and ask them to figure out Cathy’s and Tom’s interests in the applications of the VR technology after reading the text in the book.
2. After the students find out the two applications – virtual reality holiday and virtual university, show two short videos about each of them to let students get more related information and then ask two of the students to play as Cathy and Tom to introduce virtual reality holiday and virtual university to the other students.
Step Ⅲ group work
1. The students talk about their goal of going to senior high school – university.
2. Ask the students to discuss the following questions in groups:
Would you like to go to such a virtual university?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a virtual university?
