Part 2. Analysis of the Teaching Material
Next, let’s come to the teaching material. The content of my lesson is New Zealand Fact File from Culture Corner, Unit 4 Module 2. This unit mainly deals with Cyberspace. This lesson is a typical introduction about a beautiful country----New Zealand. Besides studying this lesson, students will be given an extensive reading to know basic information about New Zealand. At the same time, I will let them know the structure of introducing a place and learn how to voice opinions while writing an introduction, which also enhances their reading skills, such as prediction, skimming and scanning.
Part 3. Teaching Objectives
According to the situation of my students and the teaching material, I have several teaching objectives.
1.Knowledge Objectives:
a). Students will be able to understand key words, the structure and the content.
b).Students will learn some aspects used in introducing a place.
2.Competence Objectives :
a).Students will be able to get detailed information from the text in different exercises by skimming and scanning.
b).Students can finish an introduction of an area using oral English and writing skills .
3.Emotion Objectives:
a).Students can appreciate the world culture and broaden their knowledge.
b).Students will be developed to have an eye for beauty.
Part4. Teaching Important and Difficult Points
(1) How to promote students’ understanding step by step by reading skills: skimming and scanning.
(2) How to describe an area skilfully from beautiful cities to remote places.
Part5.Teaching Methods
As is known to us all, a good teaching method requires that the teacher should help Ss develop a good sense of English language. I will use the following methods according to the modern social communication teaching theories.
(1) Task-based Teaching Method
(2) Student-centered Method
(3) Communicative Teaching Method
(4) Situational Teaching Method
Part6.Teaching Procedures
Well, let’s move to the most important part---teaching procedures, which consists of 8 parts. Here I will divide the whole class into 4 groups. Encourage them to attend competitions to make the class atmosphere active and lively.
