Step 1: 3—min speech
A student will give us a daily speech on her learning process about Gu Zheng.
Step2: Warm up: Brainstorm
1. About styles of music
Based on the mini speech, I ask students to list different styles of music.
Then, play a game, in which students are supposed to listen to different types of music and then I ask them to guess the correct styles of music.
2. About kinds of instruments
Ask students to list some musical instruments they know, and the teacher will show some instruments.
Step3: Reading
1. Part1: Musical Instruments
Ask students to read the first paragraph of the passage and then answer the question:
What kind of instrument does classical music use?
After checking the answer, I show some pictures of traditional European instruments. And I get students to appreciate two pieces of classical music.
2. Part2: Musicians
First, get students to know 2 famous rock musicians of the last century by watching videos.
