Teaching procedures:
Step ⅰ:Lead-in
The teacher shows some famous paintings and lead the students to tell something about them.
【purpose】To warm up the class and introduce the topic to the students : everyone has his or her taste for art.
Step ⅱ: Pre-reading
The teacher provides some pictures and let them guess the words.
【purpose】To make students brainstorm the key words and make preparations for reading.
Step ⅲ: Fast-reading
The teacher asks the students to match the paintings with the names and the painters.
【purpose】To look for the information quickly and know the main idea.
Step ⅳ: Careful reading
The teacher asks the students to read the first paragraph and choose the best answers:
Read the second part and decide if these sentences are True or False.
Read the third part and answer the following questions.
【purpose】To look for detailed information in each paragraph and know the reading strategy: let the fact speaks!
Step ⅴ: Summary and speaking
The teacher ask the students to fill in the blanks to summarize the passage.
The teacher invites some students to describe the painting using the words we have learnt.
【purpose】To develop the ability for summary and expressing their own opinions.
