For the students of Grade One, they have already learned Module one and most of Module two, and they master some vocabulary about design and skills of reading. And they certainly have come across lots of clauses, but they don’t know what are they and how can they use relative clauses correctly. They should develop the ability to summarize grammar tips on their own.
Teaching aims:
Knowledge and Skill:
At the end of the class, students are able
to analyze a relative clause about its antecedent and relative pronoun.
to summarize the basic rules of relative clauses.
to use relative clauses when introducing paper cutting.
Process and Method :
To present some relative clauses by asking students to answer some questions.
To make students pay attention to the structure of relative clauses.
To practice rebuilding relative clauses with students.
To invite students to introduce paper cuts by using relative clauses

At the end of the class, students are able
to love and promote this traditional Chinese paper art.
to develop the ability to summarize grammar tips on their own.
Focal point:
Students are able to get the basic grammar rules after analyzing some relative clauses from the text.
Difficult point:
Students may have problems in these parts:
“whose” can not only refer to “of whom ”, but also “of which”.
What part the relative pronouns play in the relative clauses: subject, object or attribute?
Teaching Method:
Apply PACE teaching model raised by an American linguist Adair-Hauck & Donato to grammar teaching. PACE means presentation, attention, co-construction and extension.
