3.To improve the students' reading ability by scanning and skimming.

Process and methods

Use a video about a house of one student to lead in the new text to arouse the students’ interest.

During Pre-reading, the introduction of the different kinds of houses and rooms can help students better understand the text.

In While-reading, a table and some questions are used to help students find some specific information about the text.

For Post-reading, students can design their own houses to enhance their understanding of a home and family.

Emotion ,attitude and value

1. To direct the students how to cooperate with each other, help each other and learn from each other.

2. To enhance the students’ understanding of a home.

Teaching ﹠ Learning methods

1.Task-based Language Teaching

The text deals with a story of houses. Pictures related to the theme will be presented by multimedia computers to further students’ understanding, which makes for the improvement of the teaching efficiency. At the same time, it also can make the students work effectively during the whole class

2. The whole language approach

Instruct students to begin with reading the title; then get the overall perception before the detailed understanding of the article, inspire students to participate in learning, discussion and improve their abilities of language fully.

Teaching Important﹠Difficult points:

1.To improve Students’ reading ability by finishing some tasks.

2. To know more about different kinds of houses.

3. To design a house of their own.

Teaching Procedures:

Step 1 Lead-in: Brainstorm

Ask students some questions: What is a dream house? What is your dream house? Maybe the students will not show their answers immediately, so the teacher shows the video about the house in the future.

Step2 Pre-reading: Get the students to know some new words about the dream houses through pictures.

Step3 Fast-reading: Give the students five minutes to read the text, and then do the match .
