Analysis of students:
This lesson is designed for students who have just entered the high school. Since they have learned English as second language for some years, they have accumulated a lot of vocabulary, and established a certain capacity of language organization, they have a good basic on listening, speaking, and so on, all of these have laid a foundation for learning this lesson.
However, their listening ability is limited, for example, they can not grasp some long and complex sentences. What’s more, they are not so active in class activities. Therefore, in order to encourage the students to act more actively, group and individual work will run through the whole lesson to promote the students' participation in the class activities.
Teaching aims:
1. Knowledge aims:
By the end of this class,
● Students will master some new words related to sea pollution, such as, agricultural waste, industrial, ban, handle, pollute.
● Students will be able to find solutions needed to protect the sea.
2. Ability aims:
By the end of this class,
● Students will improve their listening ability by finding out specific information.
● Students will develop their competence of making notes and using abbreviations while listening.
● Students will develop their communicative ability.
3. Emotion and attitude aims:
After learning the lesson, student will enhance their awareness about protecting the sea and learn more solutions to the problem.

Students can master the new words in the listening material and practice listening abilities for specific information.

For my students, it will be difficult to help some students overcome their nervousness when they are faced with the listening task.
