Step 1 Pre-reading
The teacher played a piece of music to students, the name of the song is ”my heart will go on) Students show great enthusiasm, they are asked to guess the film related to the song.
Students answered together “Titannic” .
The teacher lead the students to think that the story of Titanic is a story related to sea. then ask students if they are eager to learn another story about sea. Students showed great interest. The teacher lead to the topic.
Step2 Fast reading
Students are given 7 minutes to read the passage quickly to get the answers for the following questions:
A,:Why did the writer’s younger brother fall into the sea?
B: Why didn’t his brother tie himself to the barrel?
C: Why didn’t his brother do the same?
D: his old friend not recognize him?
The teacher check the answers with students ,the questions are relatively easy. students answered the questions together
Step3 Detail reading
Students are asked to read the passage again. After reading,they are asked to decide if the following sentences true or false
A : Their boat survived after an enormous wave
