Step 1. Greetings
Step 2. Background information
Show Ss a picture of our school and help them to express how they go to school every day and how much time they spend on the road to school.
Step 3. Lead-in.
Show a video about a car advertisement of Benz. Then lead them to think about the question whether it is a road to success or destruction to lead in the topic of this lesson.
Step 4. Before- reading
Task 1. Learn some words related to traffic through pictures. Use the last picture about a traffic jam to lead in the task 2.
Task 2. Read the dialogue at the beginning of the text and guess what are the A10, the M11 and the M 25.Then answer the following questions: What caused them to spend so much time on the road? Why do we hate traffic jams?
Task 3. Make a guess about some figures related to traffic in Britain to prepare for the following reading.
Step 5. While-reading
Task 1. Read the Line 13-26 and check the answers of step 4 task 3 to get a general idea of the traffic in Britain.
Task 2. Read the part again to finish the first part of the report about traffic in Britain to get a better understanding.
