Step1 Greeting & Leading- in

Play a game:T describes an object and Ss guess what it is.

T: As we know, it’s an object. We will use it when we want to buy something in a supermarket? What's it?

S: It is money. It belongs to the Material World. It’s today’s topic—Lesson 1. (ask students to guess the object described to arouse students' learning interest.)

T: Do you want to have a lot of money? Would you like to be a millionaire? Why or why not (show some pictures of millionaires: Li Jiacheng, Bill Gates, etc.)

(give students 2 minutes to exchange ideas with their partner. Students will form different viewpoints about money.)

T: What can money buy? S:

T: What can’t money buy? S:

T: Different people hold different views about money. Some of you think that money is the most important thing, because money can make you get something you need, while the others have the opposite view. In a material world, money is important but remember money is not everything. Many evils come from greed for money. Not all people care about money, for example “Who wants to be a Millionaire? I don't” says Charles Gray. Why does he say so?

Step 2 Listening

T: Now listen to the cassette you will know why there are such people that don’t want to be a millionaire.

Then ask the students to answer the question.
