Teaching procedures

Step 1 Lead in

Let the students watch a short video and arose the awareness of protecting the environment and using the 5yuan wisely. The teacher leads in the question: If your five yuan can buy a tree, would you like to buy it? So begin the new lesson - your money.

〖设计意图〗运用学生所熟悉的公益广告《绿水青山就是金山银山》作为本节课的导入，从而唤起学生通过种树可以保护环境的意识。从而引出话题，如果你用5元钱能够买一棵树，你是否愿意去买它? 从而进入本节课: Lesson 3 Your Money 的阅读部分when less is more.

Step 2 Pre-reading

Task: Read the paragraph in italics and answer the question.

〖设计意图〗本篇文章是一篇新闻报道，斜体段落用问题What can you do with 5yuan? 的形式, 引出文章的主体是关于5元钱和黄河之间的关系。让学生通过快速阅读说明文的首段来找出文章的主旨大意。教师在此处埋下伏笔What is the relation between 5yuan and the Yellow River? 从而进入文章的学习。

Step 3 While-reading

Task 1: Read the article and match the main idea with each paragraph. (Individual work)

Para 1 a. A successful tree-planting programme and the importance of your 5 yuan.

Para 2 b. Everybody plays an important role in stopping Yellow River erosion.

Para 3 c. It is a huge job to control Yellow River erosion.

Para 4 d. It tells us the cause of Yellow River erosion and bad effects.

Task 2: Learn the vocabulary and guess the meanings in the article.
