2. Analyze the strategies used in writing supporting sentences and summarize sentence patterns used to apply for a job. .

3. Write a letter of application coherently.

4. Assess and revise the partner’s letter.

How to guide students to find what makes a god paragraph and learn to write supporting sentences.

六、教学过程

A. Lead-in

Show students a chart.

T: While looking at this chart, what comes to your mind?

Ss: letter

T: Yes, letter was the most typical examination method on the past three years’ college entrance examination paper. That is to say, knowing how to write a letter is extremely important for you, do you think so? So today, we are going to learn how to write a letter, specifically speaking, the letter of application!

[设计意图]: 图表可以个学生最直观的感受,也可以给学生留下深刻印象。通过图表,学生可以了解到信件在我们高考英语作文中还是占有很大比例的。

B:Pre-writing

a. In order to help students know what we will learn in this class, first I will show them teaching aims.

b. Since it is a formal letter, reviewing the layout of the letter is necessary.

c. Students read and match the topic of each paragraph.

[设计意图]: 写前给学生呈现教学目标,正式信件的布局有助于缓解学生的压力和减少他们对于写作的恐惧感。

C:Analyzing and Drafting

a. Students read paragraph 1 and find the sentence used to start the letter, and later lead them to find how the writer adds more information to this sentence.—using attributive clause.

b. Students read paragraph to find the topic sentence, supporting sentence and link words, meantime, teacher makes them pay attention to how to write supporting sentence.

c. Students write paragraph 2 of the letter on page 3 of the students’ handout.
