Teaching process and methods
Use a short video concerning with differences in eastern and western culture to lead in the topic.
In the first part, use some pictures to help students memorize the new words
While listening, the listening strategies are applied to help students make notes correctly and grasp useful information.
In the second part, two videos are used to help students feel the differences in table manners and greeting manners.
In the last part, some pictures are provided to develop students’ awareness of protecting our traditional culture.
Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead in:
Use a short video concerned with differences in eastern and western culture to lead in the topic. Then ask students to think about the question: “What aspects(方面)in our life can we experience culture shock ?” Use some pictures to lead students to think about the differences
Step 2: part 1 differences in western countries
1. Show students the structure of the Unit and lead them to pay attention to the background information of lesson I and 4.
2. Students look at some pictures and learn the words related to different food, places and sport.
3. Students listen to three people talking. Answer the question: “Which country are they from? (America, Australia or Britain)”
4. Reading Strategies: read the article; make notes about these topics key words
