Ⅱ. Analysis of the teaching materials

Part 1: Status of the material

This lesson plays a very important part in Unit 13. This period is the warm-up part of this unit. It is mainly about some expressions about people’s appearance. Students will not have much difficulty in finishing some exercises. But it is no easy to apply the new expressions to make descriptions of people by using sentences.

Part2: Teaching Objectives

1. Knowledge Objectives:

Ss will be able to grasp some words and expressions about describing people.

2. Ability Objectives:

Improve students’ listening and speaking ability in terms of describing people.

3. Moral Objectives:

Students’ team spirit will be strengthened by completing certain tasks altogether.

Part3: Key points and special difficulties

1. Key points: How to make students be able to describe people’s appearance from different aspects.

2. Special difficulties: Students may have problems voicing their opinions in oral English.

Ⅲ. Teaching methodology

Part1: Analysis of my teaching methods

1. Task-based approach involves the students with different tasks;

2. Constructivism emphasizes the students’ own generative learning process

3. Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligence intends to develop the students’ all-round potentials.

Part2. Learning methods

Learner’s learning activities should center on their cooperation and team work. It is a better method to extend their learning activities outside the classroom which will benefit their life-long learning.

Part3. Teaching Aids

In this period, I’ll use the blackboard, a projector and some slides to make the class lively and interesting, and to make myself better understood as well.

IV. Teaching Procedures

In order to meet the teaching objectives, I have divided the whole lesson into three parts according to the students’ task learning.
