IntentionsStep 1 Warm-up and Vocabulary
Ss make guesses of right jobs according to the quotes each on the screen in combination with the grammar in Unit 13 ? models for guessing.
Ss make a special guess of a famous Chinese athlete with an interview to him. Meanwhile, encourage Ss to guess the meaning of the underlined words in the context.
Ss review the new words above and are encouraged to individually fill up the blankets with the key words in the table.
Check the answers in class.
Step 2 Lead-in
T briefly introduces the subject and the heroine of this lesson ? Wang Junyan’s Road to Success.
Step 3 Skimming
T offers the main ideas of the four parts of this text and asks Ss to divide it into four parts. Remind Ss to catch the key words of each part.
Share ideas as a class.
Make an explanation of “characteristics ” ,discussing how a successful person is, for example confident.
Ss try to catch Wang Junyan’s characteristics making her a success as soon as possible.
Step 4 Careful reading
Ss respectively read the following three parts with questions.
After checking the answers, fulfill the outline of each part.
Step 5 Summary
Ss read the text again as a whole and complete the passage in the worksheet.
Check the answers as a class.
Step 6 Brainstorming
Ss look back on the characteristics which make Wang Junyan a success. And elicit the internal meanings of them on the road to success and associate them with Ss’ own life as fully as possible.
