3.Learn about the changes of jobs in the future and relative demands for the
change and increase their awareness of career planning
Teaching important and difficult points:
1.Make students master the basic reading strategies.
2.Get students to get familiar with the changes and demands in job areas and let them realize what they can do to keep up with the times.
Teaching procedures:
Step1:Lead-in
Show students some pictures of jobs which are becoming less important or disappearing and more and more popular to get them to guess the job trends in the past and in the future.
Step2:Fast-reading
Task1: Students read the passage quickly to get the general idea.
General idea: Changes of job areas and the demands for the change.
Task2: Students try to get the out-line of the passage.
Step3:Careful-reading.
Task3: Students read through the whole passage carefully to get the answers to the questions.
1.What does the sentence “For them, the future will arrive too soon. ” in para.1 mean?
2.How will job areas change and what effects will the changes bring about?
3.What skills will people need to adapt to the changes?
4. What benefits will new technology bring?
5.How do you understand “Survivor of the Fittest”?
Task4: Students work in group to complete the chart.
