A brief introduction about Helen Keller Helen Keller was one of the most famous American writers in the twentieth century. When she was 19 months old, she survived a fever but she found she could no longer see or hear. And she also found it very difficult to speak. However, she was lucky enough to get Anne Sullivan to teach and help her. Anne Sullivan who was also visually impaired and then only 20 years old, managed to open up Helen's mind so that she grew up and become a world-famous public speaker. While she was still at college she wrote the famous book ---- The Story of My Life (1903),and then published Out of the Dark (1913), Teacher (1955) and Three Days to See (1933).
