Step 1: Warm-up

Play a video clip about the film Helen Keller

Step 2: Pre-reading

Introduce the reading strategies to students and ask students to predict what will be discussed in the article according to the title the picture and the first two or three lines of the text.

Students read the text quickly to check their predictions and get the general idea of the passage.

Step 4: Scanning

Students read and find out the examples of words Helen learned. Pay attention to the differences between abstract words and concrete words.
