Teaching process

Lead-in

Step 1 Introduce a poem sentence to lead in the topic.

Show students the video of different houses to enjoy the beauty of the buildings.

Have students talk about their home houses.

New words learning

Step 2 　Show pictures and asks students to identify the related words.

Discuss different styles and aspects of houses through brainstorming and learn about new words in a familiar and certain context.

Fill in the blanks with the following words to consolidate.

There are all types of houses, such as _______, castles and _________ (flats). Inside a house, we usually have a living room where we can enjoy ourselves; a ________ where we can store things; a _______ where we can bathe ourselves in the _________. Of course more and more families can afford cars. Therefore, a ______ is a must.

While-reading

Step 3　Students scan the passage quickly to get the main aspects of the passage.　Match the paragraphs with its topic.

Step 4　Students read the paragraphs 1 to 3 for detailed information by some specific questions.

How many family members are there in the family now?---Para.1

Where do we live now? List the previous places that we once lived in.---Para.2

Why did we leave Loomis? What are the problems?---Para. 3

Step 5　Students read paragraphs 4 to 5 carefully to get some detailed information and learn some other key words in the context.
