Step1 Warm-up and lead-in
1.Ask students to look at the pictures and say Which one is the most beautiful or attractive? And why?
2.Have a class discussion about beauty. Elicit from students different opinions on what or who is beautiful.
3.Lead in the topic Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. and have students choose one which has the closest meaning from Ex1.
Step2 Reading
First reading
Ask students to read the text quickly to find out the topic sentence of each paragraph .Present them on the screen and help students to understand the structure, dealing with some new vocabulary at the same time.
Second reading
Students scan the passage to get detailed information . Then they to finish some related exercises in pairs. Check the answers.
Third reading
Summary Students try to fill in a form according to the passage .
Retelling Group work . Ask students to retell the passage para by para. They can work in groups .
Step3 Writing
Show students a passage Beauty of our school and enjoy some sayings about beauty .
Step 4 Assignment
Write a passage on “Beauty in my eyes” with the methods you have learnt to prove your opinions. (within 120 words)
