Students in Senior Two have already known some strategies in reading, yet most of them don’t know how to use them properly. Besides, they usually feel panic when coming across new words during the reading course.

Teaching goals.

1. Students read to understand the whole text while getting to know some related vocabulary.

2. Students learn to use the reading strategies of matching headings with paragraphs.

3. Students feel body language themselves and get a sublimation of their emotions about making good use of body language.

Teaching key points.

1. Help students know how to read to match headings with paragraphs.

2. Make sure students understand the text clearly.

Teaching difficult points.

1. Some students might have problems with some new vocaburies, and thus influncing their understamding of the text.

2. When asked to act out their body language to warm their classmates, some students may feel shy.

Teaching methods and aids.

1. Task-based teaching method, communicative approach, situational method.

2. A multi-media projector, a blackboard.

Teaching procedures.

Step1. Warming up & Pre-reading.

1. Greet the whole class and lead in the topic with the help of teacher’s words and pictures of body language.

2. Have students try to think of and talk about more kinds of body language.

3. Ask students to guess the content of the text before reading.

Step2. While-reading

1. Read quickly to check their guessing. (Individual job.)

2. Read to match the headings with the paragraphs by using the reading strategies. (Individual job.)

3. Read the text carefully to find all the examples of body language in each paragraph. (Group work)

Step3. Post-reading.

1. Have ss listen to the whole text while filling in the blanks for a summary of what they’ve learned.
