Teaching procedures:

Step1 Lead-in

Show some pictures about beauty camera and its popularity for beautifying functions. Then introduce some beautifying skills for compositions.

Step2 Revision

1) Review the four principles of using vocabulary when writing a good composition and give many examples and exercises. Ss think about the questions and volunteer to answer them.

2) Review the advanced sentence patterns and ask Ss to change the examples into different advanced sentence patterns. If some questions are a little difficult, they can discuss with their partners.

3) Review how to use participles to make a composition stand out. Ss will be given some minutes to finish the tasks.

4) Standardize your handwriting.

Show two versions of handwriting and make Ss realize the importance of good handwriting and pay attention to it whenever writing a composition

Step3 Discussion

Show the composition written by Yuan Jiaojie, then divide the whole class into eight groups to beautify one or two sentences of Yuan’s version. Five minutes later, one volunteer in each group writes down their answers on the blackboard and explains the advantages of their sentences. After that, T shows a possible version and Ss pay attention to the underlined parts.

Step4 Homework

Ask Ss to write a composition according to the skills what they’ve learnt today.
