Ⅰ. Leading in
1. Present some pictures to show some cases where people received online shopping products which turned out to disappoint them due to poor qualities.
2. Show another set of pictures(bags, clothes, shoes and electronic devices), have the students share some unpleasant shopping experiences among the class with some sentence patterns below.
Teacher: If you are dissatisfied with what you bought, would you like to complain?
What item would you like to complain about?
Students:(use some sentence patterns of making complaints):
I want to complain about…, it went wrong/was broken……
Teacher: Have you ever wanted to make complaints to the producer?
If so, how to write a letter of complaint?
Ⅱ. Pre-writing
1. What is a letter of complaint?
A letter of complaint is a letter in which you complain about the goods you bought or the service you received. It is a business letter.
2. Now read a letter of complaint.
① Prediction: Look at the picture in the background, try to figure out:
1. What product did the writer buy?
2. What problems does the writer want to complain about?
3. What are the writer’s demands?
② Read the letter. Match the titles(1-6) with the paragraphs(A-E). There is one extra title you don’t need.
1. Poor service
2. False claims
3. The product
4. Money back
5. Diet programme
6. Poor quality
