Emotional Objectives:

To make students aware of great efforts made by workers to rescue the survivors in Tangshan earthquake and rebuild new Tangshan

To arouse their interest in making a public speech.

Teaching Procedure

Lead- in activity

Steps:

1. Watch a video of speech by Martin Luther King, Jr

2. Imitate part of his speech

Goals: To have a good understanding of the skills in making a speech

To get ready for the reading.

重点:导入任务的设置是考虑到这节课型是读说结合的课堂,所以观演讲仿演讲,激发学生对演讲的兴趣

难点:课堂气氛是否带动得好 学生与教师间的互动是否积极

Reading and speaking

Steps:

1. Read the letter of invitation and answer three questions:

1) Who is the receiver of the letter?

2) What is the purpose of the letter?

3) What will the park be opened for?

Goals: To get the main idea and the details of the letter of invitation

2. Talk about what should be included in the speech and useful expressions

Goals: To master some expressions and sentence patterns and get ready for preparing the speech

3. Give a speech in class

Goals: To practice the skills of making a speech

重点:这一环节主要鼓励学生阅读完后,开口说出演讲的内容和所用句式。

难点:学生是否能做到充分的信息反馈
