Step1.Lead-in
Put some sentences on the blackboard and ask the students to decide in pairs whether they are facts or opinions.
1. Mr. Jones has two sons and one daughter.
2. Her house is really beautiful.
3. That boy is the nicest person in the school.
4. Nine plus one equals ten.
5. I think it’s the best car for a family.
Step2. Reading and Listening
Ask students to read the passage fast and make the definitions of the fact and the opinion.
Step3. Pre-test【课堂检测】
I. Look through the passage “A fact or an opinion?”(page 5), and then choose the best answer.
