The reading passage explains the history and the differences of the modern and ancient Olympics. The teacher can enable students to learn and understanding the whole passage by skimming ,scanning and detailed reading ,and after reading ,let students do the related exercises in groups or in pairs or by individual. Then the teacher check the answer with the whole class. Finally, consolidate the contents of reading by getting students to retell the passage in their own words .
II.Students' situations :
Students has learnt the new words and expressions in this period at the beginning of this unit ,so it may be not difficult for them to learn and understand the passage while reading .Besides, they may have known about the Olympic Games,especially the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games . However ,the students may know little about the history and differences of the modern and ancient Olympics, therefore ,the teacher should give them more information or explanation to help understand the passage well .

2. Read the passage and know about some basic knowledge of the ancient and modern Olympic Games
