What can an android be used for?
Purpose:To arouse students’ interest in android and prepare for the reading passage.

1. Skimming
Task1:Look through the text and answer the following questions .
Who is talking the passage?
Is Andy a real person?
What will be told in the text ? (Answers may vary)
Purpose:Try to get the main idea of the passage by using the skimming method .
2.Scanning
Task2(individual work):Read the passage quickly and fill in the file for Andy .

Appearance: looks like a human Size: as big as a human Character:competitive,co-operative Ability:can move and think like a human
Purpose:To get the information about Andy by using the scanning method and try to learn how to describe an android.
Task3(pair-work):Read the statements first and then read the passage quickly.Decide whether they are true or false and give your reasons.

2. I disagreed to the result of the match in Seattle.
3. I can make any move in the game just like a human.
Purpose:To practise their reading skills and get more information about the android Andy.
