As we all know, reading belongs to the input during the process of the language learning. The input has great effect on output, such as speaking and writing. According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus, after studying the teaching material and analyzing the rule of children’s growing of mind, I think the teaching aims are the followings.
Ⅱ. Teaching aims:
A. Language knowledge:
1. Learn and master the following useful words, expressions and sentence patterns:
a. words:
Beauty, harvest, celebration, starve, origin, religious, ancestor, Mexico, feast, bone, belief, poet, arrival, independence, independent, agricultural, rooster, energetic, Easter, trick, gain, gather, award, admire, blossom, fool, apologize, wipe, weave, weep, remind, forgive.
b. expressions:
take place, in memory of, dress up, play a trick on, look forward to, day and night, have fun with, turn up, keep one’s word, hold one's breath, as though, remind…of, set off.
c. sentence patterns:
1)Festivals and celebrations of all kinds are held everywhere.
2)The most energetic and important festivals are the ones that look forward rd to the end of winter and the coming of spring.
3)The country is covered with cherry trees flowers so that it looks as though it might be covered with pink snow.
4)If they are not given anything, the children might play a trick.
2. Understand the text’s forms and contents and learn about the passage “festival around the world” .
3. Accumulate the knowledge of festivals and cultures.
B.Language skills:
1. Train students’ reading skills:
skimming, scanning, summarizing and finding out details.
2. Help students to talk about festivals and celebrations.
C. Emotions and attitudes:
1. Arouse the students’ interest in festivals, cultures, especially those in China, thus promote their culture awareness.
2. Build up students’ confidence and stimulate their interests.
3. Arouse students’ awareness of saving.
Ⅲ. Learning strategies:
1. Form the habit of independent learning, cooperative learning and exploring learning.
