5. Don’t fight in class.
Step Two: Teach New Knowledge
First, let the students look at the five sentences on the blackboard and try to conclude the rules about the imperative sentences. The teacher writes the structures of two types of the imperative sentence on the blackboard.
祈使句
肯定句:V型祈使句
否定句:D型祈使句(以Don’t+动词原形开头)
Second, ask the students to read the sentences in Grammar Focus one by one and translate them at the same time.
Third, after the students read and translate each group of sentences, the teacher explains the meanings of Model Verbs as well as the usages. Besides, the teacher writes down the key points on the blackboard.
情态动词
must “必须” I/You/They/Mr. Wang must be on time.
Can “可以” I/You/They/Mr. Mao can wear a hat.
Have to “不得不” I/You/They (don’t) have to wear a uniform.
Miss. Xia has to wear to a uniform.
Miss. Xia doesn’t have to wear to a uniform.
Step Three: Exercises (3a-3b)
Exercise One (3a)
Show the students four pictures, which are the four library rules. Give the students three minutes and let the students write down four imperative sentences to express the meanings of the pictures. Stress the first letter of each sentence.
Exercise Two (3b)
This exercise is to train the students to use the model verb “have to” and “can”. Let the students look at the first two groups of sentences. Read and translate them. The teacher stresses the auxiliary verbs for different verbs. Teach the four phrases first and then give them four minutes to write on their own textbooks. Next, check the answers with the students together.
Step Four: Group Work (3c)
This exercise is to train the students to work and communicate in group. The students discuss their favorite rules for their dream schools and write down their rules with imperative sentences or declarative sentences. Each group writes down at least five rules. Then each group leader speaks out their group’s five rules, and let the other students decide which group is the best dream school.
Step Five: Conclusion and Homework
At last, the teacher makes a conclusion and gives the student certain homework for their reviewing.
