Let students learn more festivals and their origins.
Teaching difficult points:
Get students to listen to and understand the listening materials.
Let students talk about the origin of the festival in their own words.
Teaching procedures:
StepⅠ. Listening (Lead-in)
Share some pictures with the students and discuss some questions with them.
What festival can you guess it is?
What do people usually do at the festival?
What problems do you think people will meet with at the festival?
By answering the questions, students know some information about
the Carnival.
Step Ⅱ. Listening
Listen to a dialogue and fill in blanks.
Some words or phrase are not familiar to them: serious, go with, thick.
By listening to it twice, students may get them all. Then explain the meanings of them: be serious about(put your heart into something), go with(match).
Listen to part 2 and answer the questions.
Why is it important for them to have water?
Why is it difficult for them to hear each other?
Why do they plan to meet at the parking lot at 8 o’clock?
The last question may be a little difficult for them. Find the sentence
and listen to it again.

Guess from the title what festival it is.
