Step1:Leading in - Story telling
Let students listen to the story and answer the question.
Questions:
What did I think I had seen on my way to grandma’s home?
What did my grandma say when I told the story?
What did my grandma and my grandpa say when I told the story?
Let students guess what happened to “I” by using the following structures.
You couldn’t have seen …
You must have seen …
You could have seen …
You might have seen …
Last summer vocation, I went to countryside to visit my grandparents. It was dark at night, and when I walked along the country road, I could see many fireflies here and there.
Suddenly, I saw two yellow eyes looking at me from the bush. I was so scared that I ran to my grandma’s home as fast as I could.
The next morning, when having breakfast, I told my grandmother, “I saw a ghost last night in the bush.” My grandma laughed, “ You couldn’t have seen a ghost, you must have dreamt of it.” She added, “ Dear, you could have seen two fireflies resting closely on a branch and glowing coincidentally together.”
