= 2 ﹨ ROMAN II Analysis of the students

Students have understood there are different types of clauses and how to divide the sentence structure. A large percentage of students, who have adopted teacher’s English teaching, can summarize the grammatical phenomenon by means of teacher’s language reminders. However, some students find it difficult to apply what they have learned to English writing.

= 3 ﹨ ROMAN III Language points and difficults:

1. How to choose the right introductive words in subject clauses.

2. How to apply subject clauses to writing composition to enhance our writing skills.

3. How to combine individual thought with group wisdom.

= 4 ﹨ ROMAN IV Teaching procedures:

Stage1: Leading-in

Enjoy a song of “as long as you love me”, and fill in the blanks while listening to introduce what the subject is. And help students to analyze the sentence structure and how to find the subject clause in the complex sentence.

Stage2: Group-Work-Discussion

Preparing self-learning case in advance, let students work in groups and have a heated discussion about the following three questions and then invite the group leader to make a presentation.

= 1 ﹨ GB3 ① What are the introductive words?

②How to choose proper introductive words?

③About the verb, should we use its singular form or plural form?

Activity1: Present three kinds of introductive words.

Conjunction: that/whether

Conjunctive pronouns: who (ever), which (ever), what (ever)

Conjunctive adverbs: where/when/how/why

Activity2: Analyze the introductive words with group members

Group leaders come to the platform and present their results respectively. Their results are as follows:

= 1 ﹨ GB3 ① If a clause doesn’t lack any component, and the meaning of the sentence is certain, we should use “that” and if we want to change the position of the subject clause, we can put “it” to help us and put the subject clause into the latter part of the sentence. In the meanwhile, teacher will present more sentence patterns about formal subject “it”. And let students to make sentences.
