Teaching procedures:
Step1: Leading in and review
Greet the class. Review the school rules by reading the rules in written forms aloud. Then practice the rules through the games.
Step2: listening
1. before listening . let students look at the pictures in 2a and tell them that Cindy and Alan are talking about the activities they can do or they can’t do. Then let Ss read the activities in the chart together and guess what they can do and what they can’t do. Ss guess them.
play the recording for the Ss to check if they guess correctly. Maybe play it two or three times.
Play the recording again. Ss finish the task in 2b. Then check the answers together.
Step3 : Practice
Ss make their conversations to talk about school rules. Then ask some of them to act out the conversations in class.
Step4 : Reading
Before reading the conversation, help Ss know the conversation is about. Then get the Ss to read the conversation more carefully and try to answer the questions on the PPT. After that, let the Ss find out the difficulties they think and explain those to them. eg. (the same use of the model verbs.(the use of “can” in the unit and in the other units.(the differences between “have to ” and other model verbs.
Step5 :Discussion
Get the students to discuss the school rules that they can do and they can’t do.
Step 6: Written
Let the students write the class rules for themselves using the structures: Don’t do... we can do ... we can’t do... we must do... we don’t have to do... then ,ask two students to write the class rules down on the Bb.
Homework : after class ,write more class rules for their class.
