Teaching procedures:
Step 1: lead-in
Play a song sung in the TV program. Let the students enjoy the song and explain where the song came from. Then present a short passage offering some information about it. Fill in the blank.
I AM A SINGER is a top reality TV show (真人秀), in which 7 top singers _______ (compete) with each other . In the first phase,Hu haiquan, a singer and music producer, ______ (act) as the host as well as a competitor of this show. So popular is the show that not only I but also my friends _____ (like) it. Step2 Subject-Verb Agreement
The teacher explain the Subject-Verb Agreement and give the example for each item .
1. I ______(be) the ninth letter of the alphabet.
2. Both the touchmenot and the forgetmenot __________(be) plants.
3. Attitude __________(decide) everything.
4. Opinions about whether to go into details about the issue______(vary) from person to person.

The subject-verb concord refers to the agreement between subject and predicate verb in number (the number concord between subject and verb). There are three principles guiding subject-verb concord:
grammatical concord, notional concord and proximity.
Generally speaking, the grammatical principle applies to formal English; on the other hand, the notional principle and the principle of proximity, play an auxiliary role in supporting the grammatical principle in informal English.
