The lesson is from Book4(PEP version), Unit1, Using language, which is the last section in a unit. Reading material in this teaching period is about Lin Qiaozhi, a great Chinese doctor. The topic of this unit is women of achievement and before this period, students have learned something about another great woman Jane Goodall in reading section, so it is natural for them to expect to learn more about great women.
In this period, students read the passage to get the schema of form and language for describing people, and then process the information to describe Jane Goodall. More importantly, learning by doing should be focused on, so students have to use what they have learned to do real-world tasks ---- to write Baidu entries for Lin Qiaozhi and Jane Goodall. This is what we call “using language workshop”, which is part of our research project. As you can see, I also integrate the teaching materials in this lesson.
II.Learners analysis
Having finished Book 1-3‘ learning , the students in Senior one have already adapted to the English learning in senior high school. They have already learnt some learning strategies in English learning. And at the same time their cognitive ability is close to that of adults
Before this lesson , in Book 1 Unit 5 students have already known some knowledge about great people- Nelson Mandela and they have already learnt the difference between great people and famous people and in this unit, they have already learnt some knowledge about great women-Jane Goodall, so a game based on competition about the adjectives and nouns of descripting the great man and woman is a good way to activate their previous knowledge as well as their desire to learn more. Besides, at the beginning of this class, an “objective box” is shown to activate students’ “psychological expectation of reading”.

?Students will know more about Lin Qiaozhi and her achievements through scanning.
?Students will know the schema of form and language used to describe people.

?help the students to practice and improve reading skills through
Prediction and scanning for information about Lin Qiaozhi.
?Guide the students to talk about Lin Qiaozhi and her achievements and make a conclusion about the good qualities of a doctor after functional practice.
