The -ing form as the Subject and Object

教学目的:

语法大纲严格按照循序渐进的原则安排教学内容。这种做法的理论假设是:1)语言由一套有限的规则组成。这些规则可以相互组合产生意义;2)语言的规则可以逐一学习,逐步积累;3)一旦学习者学会了某种语言形式,就可以在课堂外真实的交际场合使用语言(束定芳、庄智象,1996)。

由于此课是动名词做主语的新授课,所以在教学目的上,只是要求学生能看懂动词-ing形式做主语的句子,学着仿写并掌握一些特殊句式。

教学重难点:

Understand the structure of the –ing form as the subject;

Draw some rules of the –ing form as the subject;

Rewrite the sentences with “it”;

Know how to make sentences by using the –ing form;

教学过程:

Step 1 Lead in

Appreciate an English song with the –ing form as the Subject and let the students fill in the blanks.

___________ you is easy cause you beautiful

___________ love with you is all I want to do

___________ you is more than just a dream come true

And everything that I do, is out of _________ you

……

By checking the answers, show the students the structure of the –ing form as the Subject.

(设计意图:通过动听的歌曲,让学生感性认识动词-ing形式做主语的结构。简单明了的语法结构,朗朗上口,是学习枯燥语法的最佳调节。活跃课堂气氛,让语法的学习化繁为简。)

Step 2 Discovery

Ask the students to find out the similar structures in the text.

Since then, finding ways to grow more rice has been his life goal.

Spending money on himself or leading a comfortable life also means very little to him.

Just dreaming for things, however, costs nothing.

(在学生寻找的过程中,着重引导学生发现句式结构,尤其区分动词-ing形式做主语和宾语的情况。)
