My students are almost from the city, so they are not very familiar with organic farming. But they are aware of the importance of the quality and safety of food. So the reading material can easily arouse students’ learning interest. However, they are poor in cooperative learning skills and some of them are not active in the class. Therefore, I’ll have Ss study in a relaxing atmosphere, and help them understand the new knowledge in certain degree through the mental process of reading, hearing, speaking, observing, and thinking to make preparation for completing the new study task.

To learn some information about organic farming;
To master the basic expressions for persuasion;

Step1. Lead-in:
Show the picture of organic carrots and non-organic ones, and ask the question: why do the same carrots have different prices?
(This warming-up step connected with our daily life is familiar to the students, thus it can arouse their great interest and create a natural transition to the reading about the organic farming.)
Step2. Reading and comprehending:
Task1. Scan the passage to find out the main idea of each paragraph and the whole passage.
(It is intended to have Ss focus on the key words and topic sentences when reading for main ideas.)
