II. The analysis of students:
Students in Grade two have learnt English for no more than two years in Senior
Middle School, but they seldom get access to English humor and can’t identify the
speaker’s intention. So they need to learn the three factors of joke to ‘read’ the
jokes.
III. Teaching objectives:
1. Students can guess what the speakers’ intention.
2. Students can predict the expected answer from the speaker.
3. Students can try to identify the punchline.
4. Students can ‘read’ and appreciate some English humors.
5. Students can finish the jokes with filling in the punchlines.
6. Students can create some jokes with information given.
7. Students can finish the continuation writing with funny ending or punchlines based on underlined information.
IV. Teaching key points and teaching difficult points:
My teaching focuses on understanding the punchlines.
The students might find it difficult to make a joke with a good logic order.
V. Teaching approaches:
The task-based approach; Cooperative learning;Text based interpretation

Step II. Appreciation
SS will read a joke and to appreciate which sentence makes it funny, which is called “the punchline”.
