Step1 Lead-in
T:First of all, let's watch a short video.

Step 2 Reading from details to the main idea.
Read the text and fill in the blanks.The purpose of this exercise is to get students to be familiar with the text. Then ask students to add a subheading to each paragraph.
Step3 Reading for understanding
T:Let's read the text again.Four students a group and discuss these questions.
1.How would you describe Yuan Longping's personality? Use three or four adjectives.
2.Is Yuan Longping more of a scientist or more of a farmer? Do you think he is a businessman? Give your reasons.
3.Yuan Longping was able to develop a successful agricultural product when thousands of other farmers could not.What do you think is the main reason for his success?
Step4 Reading for output
Ask students to complete the following notes about Yuan Longping. Then write a short passage about Yuan Longping according to the notes.
