一、整体设计思路The idea of lesson design

According to the New Curriculum Standard, English teachers should aim to develop students’ skills of independent learning and cooperative spirit, enhance their cooperative and comprehensive linguistic using ability, broaden international perspective, strengthen the spirit of patriotism and sense of national mission, lay the fundamental for their future development and lifelong learning, provide students with multiple choices and ample opportunities of performance in accordance with their personal characters and need for development.

The lesson, which may differ from the traditional type of lesson, aims at not only the acquisition of reading and writing skills based on the understanding of the whole structure, but also the using of reading and writing strategies. In a traditional lesson, too much attention is paid to expressions, grammar rules and some linguistic points, rather than guide the students to read and write the structure of a passage. Besides, Summarizing and organizing the structure of a passage may be a hard nut for them to crack. Therefore, I will guide and conduct them to understand how to organize the structure of a passage in different ways.

What’s more, different types of learning methods allow students who are in different levels deeply involve in the teaching and learning activities. Some who are not good at English finish a easy task; the others who are good at English finish a less difficult one. Cooperative learning and individual learning methods may help them grasp the key points while they are reading or writing. The more attention they focus on, the more they will gain.

The analysis of teaching material

All the important expressions and sentence patterns from book 1-8 were covered during the early first period of revision. Now, I am going to classify all the units according to different topics or types of reading and writing to go over the books once again, aiming to help them master the important expressions, the sentence patterns and the structures of the passages which describe or introduce a person. Besides, it may give them a hand on the understanding of reading a passage and write a good article of their own.

The analysis of students

After finishing the early first period of revision, students may know some important expressions and sentence patterns. However, one the one hand, they have never summarized the expressions which can describe or introduce a person. This leads them to feel confused while writing, which they often complain.

On the other hand, while reading, they seldom notice the whole structure of a passage. Most of the students have difficulty in solving the problem which is about summarizing the structure of the passage. What’s worse, students waste a lot of time reading the passages but fail to get satisfying answers

二、教学目标Knowledge objectives

To enable the students to understand and summarize the structure of a passage while they are reading.

To enable them to write in some appropriate expressions which describe or introduce a person and organize a structure of a passage while they are writing.

Skill objectives

To develop the students’ comprehensive ability of reading, esp. integrated reading, in using and understanding the expressions and structures which describe or introduce a person.

To develop the their ability of writing, esp. a structure of a passage, in using and understand what they learned to write in their own words.

Emotional objectives

1. To arose the students’ interest of reading and analyze a passage, and guide them aware of reading is more than reading word by word.

2. To stimulate their eagerness of writing and organizing their won passage in their own words.

3. The road to success is tough. One who would like to succeed should be industrious, selfless, determined. One who is successful must be modest,generous and devoted. A really famous and successful person always think himself an ordinary person, and they work not for their ow fame but for people all over the world.

4. To encourage students to learn in cooperation ways with their partners to raise their sense of self-confidence and improve their ability of cooperative learning by group activities.

Strategy objectives

1. To encourage students to discuss cooperatively to find the differences, summarize to draw conclusions, imitate to organize the structure and attempt to use.

2. To guide the students to work out how to describe or introduce a person with appropriate expressions and structure cooperatively or individually.
