Master the key words and expressions mentioned in the listening and reading material:
a. present, put their hands on, ceremony, bravery, towels, pressure, kit, slippery, ladder, stove, appliances, unplug, hair dryer, extinguishers, curtains, wires, outlets
b. John was presented with his award at a ceremony which recognized the bravery of ten people who had saved the life of another.
It was John’s quick action and knowledge of first aid that saved Ms Slade’s life.
B.Emotional aim:Encourage students to help people in need in a proper way.

IV. Teaching Stages :
Stage 1.Listening (15minutes):
Step1. Pre-listening:Go through the relevant words to injuries:
Clothes on fire , broken bones , burns, bleeding, choking , snake bites , nosebleed , bruising , sprained ankle,rescuing breathing, safety at home...
Step2: While-listening
Task1: Tick the injuries you hear about , then number them in the correct order(Ex 2 on page 39) :
safety at home...
Task2: Listen to the tape again .Complete the chart so that you know the instructions that should be given for each situation.(Ex3 on page 39)
Step 3: Post-listening
Work in groups and learn how to give instructions by using imperative sentences.
Stage 2: Reading and discussion
Step 1. Pre-reading
Task 1:(Referring to the screen) Now boys and girls, now you can see someone sitting on the ground, bleeding heavily from deep knife wounds in the leg. What would you do? Will you help him? Will you call the police and ambulance, or whether you perform first aid?
Task2:Learn the easiest way to get useful information from the headline,the first paragraph and subtitles in a newspaper.
T: What do you think the story is about by reading this headline?
S: From the headline, we can guess that the story is about a young man who sets us a good example because he could save one’s life using his knowledge of first aid.
Ask students to read the first paragraph and write the following question words on the Bb.
